Bottega Veneta Resort 2012
So far we at Fashion Collections agree that Bottega Veneta Resort 2011 is by far the best Resort collection this year.
OMG forget everything you know about a resort collection because the Bottega Veneta Resort 2012 Resort collection was a strong series of art, master crafted by Tomas Maier. I am not drooling over this collection just because of the captivating clothes or bodacious bags, but because of the smart way that the collection was designed as well as the painfully obvious step up in overall sexiness for Bottega as a fashion house.
The day-wear starts out relatively subtle with sport like jackets and above the knee skirts. But then it instantly dives into a world of dark purples, armour like waist cinchers and this strong silhouette that could stop a Grizzly in its tracks. Very Rome meets Aliens and VERY hot!
Metalics were used in a big way. So much so that when you stop into Saks, Barneys, or Holt Renfrew to pick up a couple pieces from this line, I guarantee at least one will have a silky sheen to it. Corsettes with piping on the bustier were under safari like jackets and were paired with some snug fitting dresses and skirts.
There were a couple pieces of swimwear including one small bikini and a very well done conservative one piece in oatmeal. The mood abruptly changed as hot neon colors came out in all styles of dresses. Some with ruffles down the front, others with an almost cubism feel with dissected color blocking. And the last couple looks were full length neon orange and pink that were actually (if you can believe it) practical and needless to say stole the show.
I honestly thought the evening dresses were so amazing and had such life to them. This collection made me envy women because they get to wear these literal works of art.
Really quickly I will touch on the bags – They definitely swished it up by incorporating the traditional weave but using those bright neon colors that were present in the clothing. There were white clutches with blue and orange neon bands on the tops and oversized hobos in all pink, vivid orange, yellow and white, white and orange and just about every other combination thereof. They also used a gradient in their large satchels from brown to black and white to black.
The Bottega Veneta 2012 collection will definitely be financially successful because regardless of price these clothes and accessories will be flying off the shelves, I guarantee it!
